What is the Gospel?

The Gospel

The Gospel literally means “good news.” In the Bible, the gospel is the good news regarding who God is and what He accomplished in the person and work of Jesus Christ - namely salvation. The entire Bible tells the story of the lengths that God went to in order to bring glory to Himself and save sinners. God’s Word prepares us for the gospel, recounts the events of the gospel, and celebrates the triumphs of the gospel.

Grace Orange is all about the gospel, not only for salvation but for living every single moment of life. We realize that the gospel is just as necessary for the new believer as someone who has walked with Jesus for years. The gospel is to be regarded as of "first importance" (1 Cor. 15:1-3) to our Christian life. The Bible says that the gospel is the "power of God" (Rom. 1:16) and it teaches the reality that when we are consumed with the gospel we are transformed by it (2 Cor. 3:18; 4:4). We become more like Christ, grow in our love for Him, and bring Him glory as we experience the gospel in all of its fullness.

We experience the gospel by daily, moment by moment, thinking about it, listening to it, speaking it, living it out, sharing it, and hoping in it. We experience the gospel as we remember what God’s Word says about who God is, what He's done, who we were, and what we've become in Christ. As we experience the gospel daily in all of its fullness we find ourselves, our relationship with God, and our relationship with others transformed.
