A Deepening Relationship with God

Bringing glory to God is our highest aim. The Bible explains that we cannot come to the Father or even know Him except through His Son (John 14:6; Matthew 11:27). Therefore, a deepening, life-changing relationship with God through Jesus Christ is our most important relationship (1 Corinthians 1:9). The Holy Spirit confirms that we are children of God and allows us to cry out to God as our Father (“Abba! Father!” is a cry of dependence and intimacy—Romans 8:14- 17). Every believer should be pursuing this kind of personal relationship with God. Our love for the Lord and our joy in Christ should continually increase as we direct our time and attention to God each day in worship. We grow individually and as households as we fix our eyes on Jesus.

God is also the focus of our gatherings. We are not concerned with entertainment; we don’t care about consumerism. Instead, we focus on who God is as revealed to us in Jesus Christ and our response to Him in worship. We worship God by hearing the Word preached, praising through song, praying for each other, and giving of ourselves personally and financially. All of our other relationships flow from our relationship with God and how we interact with Him (1 John 1:3). When we achieve these goals, our gatherings become a special time to celebrate and enjoy God with believers who are living in relationship with Him.
